Founding Donors

Operational expenses for the Foundation are primarily funded through our administrative endowment fund. We are forever grateful for the support of these generous donors who heard the story and believed in the vision of the Greater Salina Community Foundation.

Sustainers

Sustainers donate a minimum of $12,500 over five years. From that contribution, $10,000 will go to the Foundation's Administrative Fund. The Foundation uses these contributions for special programming and general operations. Sustainers have the satisfaction of supporting an organization that promotes charitable giving in our community, as well as provide charitable grants for worthwhile projects and programs. The remaining $2,500 will go to any established fund or funds of the donor's choice.

Sustainers are named in the Foundation's annual report and other publications. Like our Founders, their support is an important part of the Foundation's continued growth and ability to serve our community.

If you are interested in learning more about how to become a sustainer, please call the Foundation office at 785-823-1800.

Education Partners

Educating the community is an important part of our work at the Foundation. The Foundation offers annual programs for area non-profit organizations and for professional advisors, as well as special programming for donors. The goal is to assist all these audiences in our overall mission of improving the quality of life in our community through charitable giving.

Our education partners help to fund numerous educational programs offered throughout the year. Education partners make a one-time contribution to the Foundation of $500 or more to help sponsor all Foundation programs for a year. In return the Foundation recognizes our partners on invitations, handouts and other items at the events.

If you are interested in learning more about how to become an education partner with the Foundation, please call the Foundation office at 785-823-1800.

Youth Partners

In September, 2004, the Foundation launched the Youth GrantMakers Council. The Council operates like a small foundation within the Foundation. Area high school students form the Council. They meet twice a month to learn assessment and grant making skills. The students are then challenged to use these skills to make real grants that support youth projects in our community.

The Foundation is pleased to partner with some of our community's private foundations on this initiative. For all who are involved in philanthropy, there is common a desire to teach the next generation the joys and responsibilities of grant making. Their commitment of $2,500 a year for three years will:

1. Assist the Foundation with the administrative expenses of the program.
2. Contribute to a grant pool from which the students will make community grants
3. Establish an endowed fund that will eventually contribute to the perpetuation of the program.

In return for their generous support, the Foundation will name our partnering foundations on program materials, and plan opportunities for the young grant makers to interact with their sponsors. The true reward, of course, is participating in the education of a new generation of philanthropists.

If you are interested in learning more about how to become a partner in the Youth GrantMaker program, please call the Foundation office at 785-823-1800.
