Women Helping Women is an idea that grew from several local women who saw the work of similar programs in Manhattan and Lawrence, Kansas. Women helping Women is a way for women to support other women who are struggling and may be in crisis. Through an application process, women who need emergency assistance for things that are not readily available in our community can receive help from the fund. Examples might be car repair, dental care, air conditioning or plumbing repair, short term assistance with child care or a host of other possible needs. What's a Fairy Godmother? Fairy Godmothers are known for quietly helping out in a crisis. We won't be turning pumpkins into carriages, but we may very well help with transportation for women in greater need than Cinderella. Women in Manhattan and Lawrence are Fairy Godmothers in similar efforts... our fund will help spread the network of Fairy Godmothers across the state! Gifts of any size are welcome to help establish and grow the Women Helping Women Fund. Women who contribute $500 or more, over a two-year period, will be listed as Fairy Godmothers. Women Helping Women have established an endowed fund in the Greater Salina Community Foundation. Gifts to the fund are permanent, and income is used to make the annual grants. The larger the fund, the more grants we will be able to make. Along our journey, the Fairy Godmothers may also choose to host events that will provide dollars for immediate grant making. The Greater Salina Community Foundation is a public charity. All gifts to the Women Helping Women Fund are tax deductible to the highest extent allowable by the Internal Revenue Service.
